Zimbabweans can now use land as collateral

Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Friday launched a policy allowing resettled farmers to sell land and use it as collateral, marking a significant shift in Zimbabwe’s land policy. Previously, the resettled farmers couldn’t transfer ownership of land. Ownership transfers are restricted to black Zimbabweans with government approval. Mnangagwa, said this would unlock land value and aid financing, addressing issues stemming from Zimbabwe’s contentious 2000 land reforms.
