Hippo Valley, Zimbabwe’s largest sugar producer, reported a 24% revenue jump to $102.6 million after the government restored a ban on sugar imports, reclaiming a market eroded by cheaper foreign brands. Domestic sugar sales rose by 31,716 tonnes as customers returned to local products. Hippo produced 159,426 tonnes in six months, citing improved yields and mill reliability, despite ongoing illegal imports.
