Zimbabwe is grappling with a brain drain as 35,938 skilled workers, mainly in healthcare, migrated to the UK between June 2023 and June 2024, according to Home Affairs Minister Kazembe Kazembe. Local healthcare workers earn around US$255 monthly, compared to higher wages in the UK. Thousands more have left for Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. Kazembe noted the challenge of curbing emigration, citing varied reasons for the exodus.
