President Ramaphosa reschedule trip to Harare for SADC summit
President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa, who was supposed to arrive in Zimbabwe yesterday 6PM, is now arriving today morning, avoiding tonight’s fanfare for the now discredited SADC Summit in Harare.
Some of the presidents arrived yesterday and have been paraded at State House in photo shoots to lend perceived legitimacy after the horrible crackdown against pro-democracy activists.
Mnangagwa has become a bogeyman in the Southern Africa region after jailing over 100 pro-democracy activists in the last sixty-one days, and using torture, arbitrary arrests, and abusing the court system denying these activists bail.
The Zambian leader, President Hakainde Hichilema, canceled his trip to Harare after receiving significant abuse from Mnangagwa when he was in Russia, his ICT minister, and Mnangagwa’s spokesman.
Senior ZANUPF official Patrick Chinamasa even went further to insinuate that ZANUPF had a hand in the death of former Zambian President Levy Mwanawasa after he spoke out against ZANUPF violence and murders against citizens in 2008.
The Zambian delegation that came to Zimbabwe brought its own water, highlighting how strained relations have become between the two sister republics because of the Mnangagwa regime’s juvenile behavior.
Insiders in the Zimbabwean regime say the no show by President Ramaphosa after advertising his arrival today is disappointing.
