Namibia to require visas for U.S. citizens, 30 other countries starting April 1

WINDHOEK, Namibia — The Namibian government has announced that, beginning April 1, 2025, U.S. citizens and tourists from more than 30 other countries must obtain a visa before entering the country.

The U.S. Embassy in Namibia has urged American travelers to prepare for the new requirements, noting that visas may also be available upon arrival at select airports and border crossings, including Windhoek and Walvis Bay. However, the embassy cautioned that Namibia’s visa-on-arrival system is new and subject to change.

The updated policy applies to travelers from “non-reciprocating countries,” which currently impose visa restrictions on Namibian passport holders.
