Former Zim MP accused of faking his graduation after allegedly failing some of his modules
Former Zanu PF Member of Parliament for Chegutu West, Dexter Nduna, has sparked controversy after being accused of faking his graduation.
Nduna graduated on Friday with a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Zimbabwe (UZ). However, his academic achievement has come under scrutiny following reports that he failed some of his modules.
This came to light after Dexter Nduna shared a picture of himself wearing a graduation gown. Captioning the picture, he wrote,
“Congratulation to me today UZ law class of 2024.”
Commenting on Dexter Nduna’s post, a social media user identified only as @LEOTSINDA accused him of faking his graduation.
@LEOTSINDA claimed that Nduna did not graduate with his classmates because he had failed most of his modules. He also suggested that the former legislator bought a gown and pretended to be graduating.
“UZ lecturers have never liked poeple coming to class with political affiliations. Hon Dexter Nduna Chegutu West today decided to get a gown from the street and wore it to make believe. He is not on the list of graduants in the faculty of Law because akafoira foira ma modules hobho hobho. He then sits in a place reserved for a different faculty, you can see that none of those he is sitting with are wearing the same gown 📷 What fake sombary!”
A list showing the names of people who graduated from the Faculty of Law was shared, and Dexter Nduna’s name was reportedly not on the list.
“Below are all the names of people who graduated from the faculty of Law yesterday.
“There is no Dexter Nduna here.
A screenshot of a letter allegedly from Dexter Nduna demanding a review of all his failed modules has also been shared on X. In the letter, Nduna requested a remark on his modules without political party bias.
The damning claims have sparked a buzz on social media.
Here are some of the reactions
@mapipimakuru; Most of you will remember Dexter nduna an MP who won by loosing an election. Yes he was announced a winner yet he actually lost. Here he is in a fake gown, and at a fake graduation. The dude failed his modules but found himself seating with those who were graduating. What a mess!
@Laque_davis; So Dexter Nduna’s best evidence that he indeed graduated yesterday is a receipt of the purchasing of a graduation gown? Imagine your best evidence that you own a car being a fuel receipt from ZUVA. And the guy wants to be a lawyer. Good luck to his future clients
