UN Secretary-General António Guterres and SA Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Ronald Lamola to meet in SA

António Manuel de Oliveira Guterres European Portuguese, born 30 April 1949 is a Portuguese politician and diplomat who is serving as the ninth and current Secretary-General of the United Nations since 2017. A member of the Portuguese Socialist Party, Guterres served as prime minister of Portugal from 1995 to 2002.

The Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Mr Ronald Lamola, will receive the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr António Guterres, for a courtesy call on Wednesday, 11 December 2024.

The meeting will provide an opportunity to further align perspectives and continue discussions on the priorities for the G20 presidency, taking forward the pact of the future, and ensuring accelerated achievement of sustainable development and climate promises.

Both the Minister and Secretary-General will make remarks to the media after the meeting.
