Five people were killed and six others injured early Thursday when a Toyota Hiace minibus collided with a fuel tanker along the Harare-Bulawayo Road near Kuwadzana 7.

The minibus, attempting a right turn onto Bulawayo Road, crossed into the path of the oncoming tanker at a traffic-controlled intersection, police said.

The bodies of the deceased were transported to Sally Mugabe Hospital, where the injured are also receiving treatment. None of the victims have been identified.

In a separate accident Wednesday afternoon along the Harare-Masvingo Road, two people died and five others were injured after a Toyota Land Cruiser veered off the road and overturned. Four of the injured were taken to Mvuma Hospital, while one was transferred to Harare for further medical care.

Police spokesperson Paul Nyathi urged drivers to follow road rules and avoid speeding, warning of rising accident rates. Further details on both incidents will be released as investigations continue, Nyathi said.
